CTC: Isle of Wight
Developed for The New Carnival Company, Carnival Trail Companion: Isle of Wight is a locative media app for iPhone designed to accompany a series of walks – part of the Isle of Wight Walking Festival 2014 – linking the principal towns of the Isle of Wight.
The app contains audio and visual media triggered automatically by the location of the user. The media was collected by media artist Richard White, who crafted it into the routes of the walks to present a hidden narrative of the significance of carnival to the people of the Isle.
Along with the app, a set of flags were created by artist Ali Pretty to present when the walkers arrived at each town.
